MERITS OF BEER

Argument And Fight _ (N.Z. Pre is Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 17. An argument over the merits of Australian and New Zealand beer developed into a fight in Rintoul street in the early hours of yesterday morning, the police prosecutor (Mr A. G. Beal) said in the Magistrate's Court. Clyde Kevin Letheby, aged 27, a workman, and Allan Rodney Bardell, aged 36, a bricklayer. both pleaded guilty before Mr M. B. Scully. S.M., to fighting in a public place. Each was convicted «nd fined ££. “Have you made up your mind yet?” the Magistrate asked Letheby. “Yes. I’m still definite,” he said. “I was sticking up for New Zealand beer,” said Bardell. “I still stand by my own country.” • “It seems like a case of misplaced patriotism,” commented the Magistrate.
