Church Head Expelled
(N.Z J I .A-Reuter—Copyright) BERLIN, September 2. The President of the AHGerman Protestant Church Council (Dr. Kurt Scharf) has been expelled from East Berlin, a Church spokesman said yesterday. Church officials said on Friday that Dr. Scharf had been permitted to visit West Berlin for the first time since the border was closed last month. The officials also said then that Dean Heinrich Grueber, a 70-year-old Protestant clergyman who recently gave evidence at the trial of Adolf Eichmann in Israel, was barred from entering East Berlin by police who told him a new form of registration for church officials was being worked out. The Dean, who was a Churdh Plenipotentiary with the East German Government until 1958, lives in West Berlin but has his office in East Berlin.
