FALL OVER CLIFF

Cyclist Down 200 ft (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Sept. 3. A cyclist plunged 200 ft over a cliff after crashing through a safety fence on the Paekakariki HiU road this afternoon. He is Mr A. Burrows, of Gear Street. Petone. He was taken by ambulance to Wellington Hospital suffering from concussion, shock, suspected internal injuries and suspected dislocated right shoulder. Rescuers took an hour to bring the injured man back to the roadway. The accident occurred about 2.30 p.m. when Mr Burrows swerved to avoid a car as he descended the northern side of the hill. His machine skidded in loose metal on the side of the road and plunged over the cliff. A passing motorist who saw the accident clambered down the steep cliff face to assist. By the time the ambulance arrived Mr Burrows was back on the road.
