Mr S. T. Day, of Christchurch. was elected to the junior advisory committee of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association at the association’s annual meeting in Wellington this week. Mr Day has been a delegate from the United club and later the Cashmere club to the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association and. as a member of the Canterbury Junior Lawn Tennis Association. he is that association’s representative on the management committee of the senior association. He is a member of the ranking and selection panel of the junior association and was organiser in charge of prim, ary schools’ tennis in Christchurch for five years. He has managed several junior tournaments including the one at Wilding Park this week.

The former Canterbury table tennis player R. W. R. Mercer, now a prominent player and administrator in Invercargill, was a welcome visitor to Christchurch for the recent quadrangular tournament. A South Island representative last year, and formerly a national-ranked player, Mercer retains his form well in spite of a lack of opposition in Southland.
