MINE RESCUE VAN

Use In Granitv "The Press" Special Service WELLINGTON. Sept. 1. The Minister of Mines (Mr Shand) today accepted delivery of-a new rescue van on behalf of West Coast coalminers. The van was bought by the Coal Mining District Welfare and Research Council and will be stationed at Granity Finance for the purchase of the van was provided from a fund built up by the Research Council from a levy of 9d a ton on all coal produced in New Zealand. Thus, every coal user indirectly contributed to purchase of the van. Mounted on a two-ton chassis. the van has an all-metal body and seating accommodation for seven. It will also carry two stretchers, oxygen equipment, and other rescue gear.
