Farewell Service In Cathedral
A farewell Communion service for the Rev. J. G. Meadowcroft, who is to take up a new appointment as Anglican representative at the United Theology Seminary in the Indian Punjab district of Gujranwala. was held in the Christchurch Cathedral on Saturday morning. Celebrated by the Bishop of Tanganyika (the Rt. Rev. M L. Wiggins) the service was attended by members of the Church Missionary Society of Canterbury. Previous appointments held by Mr Meadowcroft have included work for the society in West Pakistan and Karachi. Before that Mr Meadowcroft was vicar at Seddon and curate at Greymouth and at the Nelson Cathedral. Mr and Mrs Meadowcroft will leave New Zealand tomorrow on the first stage of their journey to India.
