PHILATELISTS’ JUBILEE
Special Cachet Struck
To mark the fiftieth anniversary of the formation of the Christchurch Philatelic Society, which will celebrate the occasion with an official dinner today, a special cachet has been struck by the organising committee of the 1961 New Zealand National Philatelic exhibition now being held in the Durham street Art Gallery. The cachet will be applied on request to mail to b.e posted at the special post office which is open at the exhibition, and may be used on the official commemorative cover issued by the organising committee. The special cancellation in use at the exhibition post office will be used up to the closing of the exhibition at 10 p.m. today, the final night of the exhibition. “There is nothing so desperately monotonous as the sea, and I no longer wonder at the cruelty of pirates.”— James Russell Lowell.
