Boon Hay Women’s Fellowship.—About 60 members of the Hoon Hay Women's Fellowship of the Presbyterian Church attended a recent meeting when a mannequin parade was held. A competition for shortbread was won by Mrs A. Alison. The president (Mrs R. Philips) presided. English Speaking Union.— Dr. W. E. Powers was guest speaker at a recent 'meeting of the English Speaking Union in Christchurch. Dr. Powers, a research scholar under the United States Educational Foundation. has been in Christchurch since January, and will return to the United States next month. In his talk, he discussed coloured slides of areas of the United States shown to members of the International Geographical Congress on a recent transcontinental excursion. Mr S. Gill with Mr F Tomlinson thanked the speaker.
