Soccer SCHOOL FOR COACHES
None Attends From Canterbury
Disappointment that no Soccer coaches had attended the annual residential coaches’ school, held this week at Palmerston North, was expressed yesterday by Mr K. Armstrong, the leader of the school.
“Something must be lacking in the game in Canterbury,” he told a reporter of "The Press.”
Mr Armstrong added, however, that he had been invited by the Canterbury Football Association to conduct a school in the province. “I hope to be able to fit in such a course at the end of January or the beginning of February next year," he said. “If possible, I should like the association to arrange a residential course like the one I have just conducted. This is much more satisfactory than a series of evening classes. Canterbury Agricultural College, Lincoln, would be a good place to have such a course.”
This week's course, which was held at Massey Agricultural College, was attended by 24 coaches from most parts of New Zealand, including Messrs M. Ruston (Hearts, Timaru) and W. Houghton (Rangers, Nelson). The coaches took examinations in laws of the game, practical work, and theory, finishing yesterday morning.
