Olympic Runner Competing
The Olympic martahon representative, J. Julian (Auckland) is listed as the back marker in the 103 entries received for the annual Temuka to Timaru road race this afternoon. Julian will be giving away handicaps of up to 16min, including a 30sec start to the recordholder, A. Potts (Dunedin). Third in the recent New Zealand senior harrier championships, T. Marshall (North Otago) has Imin start on Julian, who was fifth in the New Zealand championship. v There are 68 entries for the South Island junior harrier championship at Centennial Park, Timaru, this morning Although R. P. Welsh (Dunedin) winner of the junior New Zealand title last week, will not be competing, excellent competition is expected. both for the individual and teams titles, as other leading runners from Christchurch, Timaru, and Dunedin have entered, including G. Pyne (Olympic) second in the national title, and A. Bayard, who was fifth.
