D. Borrie). While a considerable part of the Fellow’s time will be available for his own research, he will also be required to assist m the organisation of departmental projects and in the supervision of students. The current research interests of the Department cover historical and social studies of migratory movements, nuptiality and the factors and implications of population growth. In area the main focus has been upon Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands, but research interests are now extending to south-eastern Asia and more generally to problems associated with growth in areas of high fertility and declining mortality. Applicants should provide a succinct statement of their research interests as well as 111 details of their training and experience in the field of demography. The salary range of a Fellowship is from £A2120-3000; increments are £BO per annum. The successful applicant will, in the first place, be appointed at a salary and an incremental limit fixed by reference to his standing and experience. Appointment is made for an initial period of five years; thereafter it may be made permanent. A Fellow is entitled to one year’s study leave on full pay. plus a contribution towards travel and other expenses, in every seven years.
