LOCATION: Initially at Canberra, A.C.T. for a period for experience in special techniques required in this research and subsequently the appointee will be attached permanently to the Regional Group of tlie Division at the Cunu ing ham Laboratory, Brisbane, Queensland. DUTIES: To carry out research into the origin, genesis and nature of soil profiles and soil materials by the application of petrographic and other techniques, also the study of soil profile morphology with a view to aiding pec’olog'ical invesitigafiion® and the interpretation of field observations affecting classification and properties of soils. The work will involve some discussion and observation of problems in the field in collaboration with pedologists. QUALIFICATIONS: University Honours Degree in Science with major in Geology followed by appropriate postgraduate research preferably involving one or more of the following:—sedimentary petrology. clay mineralogy and soil science.
