‘MALAYSIA’ BODY
First Meeting In Borneo (N.Z.P.A .-Reuter—Copyright) JESSELTON (North Borneo) Aug. 24. Delegations from Malaya, Singapore. British North Borneo and Sarawak sat down today at a first mee*ing of the Malaysia Solidarity Consultative Committee. They have come to Jesselton at the invitation of Mr D. Stevens, a prominent North Borneo political leader, to discuss details of implementing a plan of the Malayan Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman, for closer political ties between Singapore, Malaya, North Borneo, Sarawak, and Brunei. Brunei was invited to attend, but did not send a delegation. Mr Stephens, in an opening address, emphasised the need for the five territories involved to begin examining details of the Tunku Abdul Rahman’s plan. “As knots are untangled, so people of countries concerned will be kept in touch, and will be in a better position to know whether they would want to see their respective countries become partners in a Malaysia.” he said
