AUSTRALIAN VISITOR
“India Plans Restrictions”
(N .ZP. A.-Reuter—Copy right) NEW DELHI, August 24. The Indian Government is considering the imposition of reciprocal restrictions on Australian nationals visiting India. Mrs Lakshmi Menon, the Deputy-Minister of External Affairs, told the Upper House of Parliament today Indian nations visiting Australia on ordinary passports, she said, had to get endorsements—not visas—from the Australian authorities in India. No such endorsements, however, were required for Australian nationals visiting India. She said the Government was now "actively considering” the question of imposing reciprocal restrictions on Australian nationals visiting India and was awaiting comments from the Indian High Commissioner in Australia.
