EARLY RAILWAY POST OFFICES
The Christchurch Postal History Study Group held a special meeting on Thursday to coincide with the philatelic congress. Mr K. McNaught, of Hamilton, spoke on the New Zealand railway travelling post offices. Covers used at the start of the railway travelling post offices in 1878 and 1879 were shown. They had been used on mail from Christchurch to Invercargill. More railway travelling post offices were brought into operation as the railway lines in the North and South Island were completed.
