DANGEROUS DENTURES

Warning Given By Coroner

(N.Z. Press Association) PALM. NORTH, August 25. A warning that small dental plates held in place solely by suction could easily become dislodged and asphyxiate the wearer was given by the Coroner (Mr G. H. Lusk) at an inquest today. The Coroner found that John Alexander Hedley, aged 72, died on August 2 as the result of a dental plate becoming impacted' in his throat and completely obstructing the airway. Evidence was given that Hedley collapsed in a street and was taken by ambulance to Palmerston North Hospital. He was dead on arrival. • “It was first thought that Mr Hedley had collapsed and died on account of a heart attack.'' said the Coroner, "but I have the authority of his medical adviser to say that there was no reason why this man should not have lived for years. “This is the second occasion that I have been connected with a fatality of this type.”
