Fishing Boat Seizure
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyrtpht) TOKYO, August 24. The Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary (Mr Masayoshi Ohira) said today his Government would demand that the Soviet Union stop seizing Japanese fishing boats. Mr Ohira was referring to the capture yesterday of 12 fishing boats in waters north of Hokkaido by three Soviet patrol boats. He told Japanese reporters it would be difficult to tell the fishermen to stop fishing in the area, since for them their work was a matter of life or death. Mr Ohira said his Goverment would also investigate the incident.
