rpHE first five-eighths in the Christ’s College first XV, K. J. Prain, has attracted much attention with his good displays on both wet and dry grounds this winter. With a neat side-step and speed off the mark, he has proved a clever attacking back, with great penetrative ability. Prain comes from a wellknown Invercargill sporting family., His father, Mr J. C. Prain, is highly regarded in Rugby circles in Southland and was formerly president of the powerful Pirates club, while his brother, H. C. Prain, represented Otago as a second five-eighths. He toured

Japan with the New Zealand under 23 side in 1957-58 and was South Island's second five-eighths in the interisland game of 1958.

Ski-ing shares a place of honour with Rugby in the family. One of Prain’s sisters is the champion skier. Patricia Prain. winner of national titles and a New Zealand representative at the 1960 Winter Olympics at Squaw Valley. A brother-in-law, R. S. A. Chaffey, also a mwnber of that team, is one of the most popular and most accomplished skiers in the country.
