Diplomats from the Big Four Western Powers conferred late today at the State Department on the Berlin crisis. British, French, and West German envoys met the Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs (Mr Roy Kohietr). The Western “steering group,” which met in Washington every day last week, is pushing ahead with pfenning Western strategy towards the Soviet Union’s pressure for a settlement on Berta and Germany by the end of this year.
