WICKLIFF LEAVES

Four N.Z. Horses (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) BRISBANE, August 22. The New Zealand trainer J. Wickliff and a string of four New Zealand gallopers today set out from Brisbane by horse float to cover the 650 miles to Sydney. With Wickliff are Waioari, White Strand, Royal Filou and Haerini Boy. Wickliff and the four horses will stay in Sydney for three months, the waiting time insisted upon by -the New Zealand Department of Agriculture for horses that have raced in Brisbane. They will not go to Melbourne for the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups carnivals. From Sydney they will return to New Zealand, where Wickliff will restrict Waipari’s programme to races up to a mile and a quarter. Wickliff had a fairly lean season in Brisbane. Waipari was a moderate third in the Metropolitan Handicap last Saturday at Eagle Farm. It is likely that his mission in Sydney will be the mile Epsom Handicap oil October 2 at Randwick.

Waipari won the August Handicap at Doomben on August 5 and was beaten into second in the F. Barnes Stakes at Eagle Farm. White Strand won the seven furlongs less 93 yards Flying Handicap at Doomben on July 22. Royal Filou has been off colour and had veterinary attention before leaving for S.vdney.

Haerini Boy had one unplaced start.
