French Team Named (N.Z. Press Association) TIMARU, August 13. J. Meynard, who earlier in the tour proved himself the best full-back in the French touring team but who was injured before he could win a test place, could be the French full-back in the final test at Christchurch next Saturday. He has been named as an alternative for M. Vannier in the French team to play South Canterbury at Timaru on Saturday. Meynard damaged a hamstring muscle in the match against Manawatu and has not played since. Presumably, if he plays well in this match he will be considered for the test The names of 18 players from whom Tuesday’s team will be choaen were announced in Timaru this evening. The half-back will be J. Serin who played well against Otago. His selection means that one of the team, the third scrum-half, L. Camberabero, although at no stage on the injured list will return home with only one match to his credit Camberabero played only in the Waikato match. The team to play South Canterbury is:— J. Meynard or M. Vannier; H. Rancoule, J. Bouquet. A. Boniface, G. Calvo; P. Albaladejo, J. Serin; M. Celaya; F. Moncla or M. Crauste, C. Vidal, J. P Saux or M. Cassiede, R. Lefevre: A. Domenech. J. Laudouar, G. Bouguyon.
