Simple Ski Tow

The maker of one of the most popular types of ski tow used in Europe and the United States. Mr M. Pomagalski. from Grenoble, will be making a brief visit to New Zealand this coming week. He arrives on Wednesday from Sydney. New Zealand ski tows and lifts vary considerably in design and cost and range from the simple rope tow to the T-bar and chair lift The Pomagalski tow is very simple and consists basically of an endless light wire rope to which the skiers attach a rigid strut. From these are suspended a hard plastic or rubber "flying saucer”about the size of a small plate—which is connected from the centre to the strut by a padded wire. The wire is slipped between the legs with the plate Ijehind the thighs and the tow gives a part lift, part pulling effect. Skiers who have used these lifts overseas say that they are excellent and as well as being very efficient are relatively cheep to install and operate.
