280 At Winter Garden About 280 guests attended the annual ball held by the Canterbury division of the New Zealand branch of the British Medical Association at the Winter Garden on Saturday evening. The ball was preceded by a buffet dinner held in the sapphire room. Guests were received by Dr. A C. Sandston, president of the Canterbury division, and Mrs Sandston Official guests were Mr P. H. T. Alpers, president of the Canterbury District Law Society, and Mrs Alpers; Mr K. R Jordan, chairman of the Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Society of Accountants, and Mrs Jordan; Mr S. J. Wilson, president of the Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Pharmaceutical Society, and Mrs Wilson; Mr J. L. Wood, president of the Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Dental Association, and Mrs Wood. Mrs wore a model gown of azalea pink grainy silk made with fullsweeping skirt and low-cut bodice. With it she wore an elbow-length jacket of white French embroidered satin buttoned at the back. The ballroom and lounge were artistically decorated with large bowls of greenery. On the tables in the sapphire room were low bowls of pink-shaded anemones and lighted candles in silver candelabra. Those responsible for the decorations were Mesdames H. Turner Jennings, R Blunden, G. C. T. Burns, A. D. Muir and H. Roberton. Dr. D. R Hay, secretary of the division, arranged the ball. I
