Weights For Main Riccarton Races

Six horses have been weighted at 10-0 or more for the Grand National Steeplechase and five of them are Waikato-trained. Overseas, the G. W. Vercoe Memorial Steeples winner at Te Rapa in May. is top-weight with 10-7. He is trained at Te Awamutu by R. J. Weal. Drum Roll from Wanganui, and Riccarton's Cheyenne are equal top-weights for the Winter Cup. Both have 9-2. Golden Defaulter, from Te Rapa, heads the list of weights for the Grand National

Hurdles. He has 11-d which is 291 b more than he carried successfully in this race last year. The Grand National Steeplechase and Winter Cup will be run on the first day and the Grand National Hurdles on the second day of the Canterbury Jockey Clubs Grand National meeting at Riccarton on August 5,8, and 12.
