The action of the Auckland Lawn Term is Association In arranging for an international tournament from January 16 to 20 next year was described by the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association management committee last night as “premature.” The Auckland body advised that an invitation had been extended to the Indian Davis Cup players to participate. The chairman of the New Zealand management committee (Mr F. S. Ramson) aaid that the Auckland decision was a “bit premature" because dates of major New Zealand tournaments had yet to be completed. “The Auckland decision will be unpopular with other associations," be said

Change In Dates Suggested

Because the Australian lawn tennis championships next season will be held earlier than usual, It appears that no Australian players will be available to play in the New Zealand championships in Chriatchurch. The management committee of the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association on Monday evening considered a letter from the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association to this effect. Tbe New Zealand championships are at present planned for January 6 to January 13. and the Australian championships from January 4 to January 13. The Canterbury association will ask whether it would be possible to change the dates of the New Zeeland championships to avoid the clash.

Coach To Tour New Zealand (NZ Press Association> WELLINGTON. July 11. All lawn tennis associations in New Zealand will be invited to contribute to a £6OO coaching tour.

The New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association's management committee last night approved in principle the decision to employ Mr L. Atkins, of Australia, as a coach to tour associations In the country.
