Appeal For Land At Diamond Harbour
A deputation from the Diamond Harbour scout group committee, consisting of the chairmen (Mr F. S. Atkins) and the secretary treasurer (Mr J. C; Bradley) appealed to the Lyttelton Borough Council at it* meeting on Monday evening for the use of a plot of land on which to build a scout den at Diamond Harbour. Mr Atkins emphasised the urgent need for such a den, in order to prevent boy* of 15 or so having to go away from Diamond Harbour for amusement and recreation He also mentioned the urgency of building such a den in order to combat possible delinquency, and keep youth interested. The Community Hall was not enough, he said. The Counts! referred the request to its town-planning and estimate* committees
