HORNBY SOUTH SCHOOL
Rooms As Nucleus For Intermediate Classrooms for a primary school to be the nucleus of a new intermediate school will be built at Hornby. The Canterbury Education Board will soon call tenders for the erection of eight classrooms and an administration unit for a new Hornby South Primary School in Shand's road, not far from the Crown Crystal glass factory. No date has yet been fixed for making this an intermediate school with additional classrooms, specialist manual training rooms and an assembly hall; but Hornby is an obvious centre for such a development. There is the main Hornby School. the Gilberthorpe School, and a site for yet another. It is hoped the new Hornby South School will open at the beginning of next year.
