A religious leader charged today that the United States Federal Government was “one of the primary forces sustaining segregation” in housing. The allegatio) was made by Rabbi Richard Hirsch, of Chicago. in a report on urban problems.He said the real estate industry and lending institutions had sought to perpetuate residential segregation patterns which made it “virtually impossible” for a negro family to obtain a home in a desirable white neighbour- ! hood.
