Overseas Experts To Be Called In ••The Press- Special Service NELSON. July 4. The Nelson Forest Development Company. Ltd., has decided to call on the services of two overseas pulp and paper specialists, it was learned from Mr L. Baigent. a direc'or of the company, in an interview in Nelson today. "We in Nelson are convinced it. is the most suitable place in the South Island to establish a pulp and paper [mill. with its auxiliary inidusfries.” he said. ! He declined to give the names and country of origin of the specialists un.‘il later '‘Meanwhile, we are planting extensively.” said Mr Baigent. “as we realise it will not be many years before the timber demands of Canterbury and Otago must be met by Nelson." The company at present has 74.000 acres of exotic plantations, easily accessible and assured of a rapid rate of growth, since many species grow faster in Nelson than elsewhere. “Bist the final decision regarding the pulp and paper mill will be left to the experts,” Mr Baigent said.
