Halswell County
. Sir.—l should like to put forward another aspect of the case for completing the tar-sealing of Kennedy’s Bush road. Is the Hateweil County chairman aware, I wonder, of the large number of children living in the unsealed portion of the road? Of these 22 children, well over half attend school and use the road every day, either cycling or walking. Is it so “short-sighted” to want a sound road surface which these children can use In safety? In addition, there are a number of young babies, and the badly corrugated road surface, as at present, makes pushing prams decidedly hazardous, not to say dangerous, and hardly conducive to the health of both mother and child. Does the chairman, therefore, consider concern for the safety of these younger members of the communi’y, to be short-sighted-ness?—Yours, etc.. SAFETY FIRST. July 4, 1961.
