I.M.F.
Sir,—ln the “Iliad” Homer said: "After the event even a fool is wise.” Could he say that today? After all the upheavals of the last fl*, years our would-be leaders have «W>t learnt wisdom. They w.i! not look deep enough to d.scover basic causes. Instead, they persist in trying to reconcile two diametrical: v opposed policies, ftill employment and industrial efficiency through labour-earing devices, export more aad import less, produce more- (for buyers' and save <spend leas), reduce taxation (promisee) and borrow more (st Interest). Any problem can be solved by intelligent application to mail units, but, no, they seek to apply their remedies to ever larger groups, even to world organisation which means that smaller national endues have to submit to outside domination. Truly, the brainwashing policy pursued by finance through control of news and views has stultified hindsight until leaders here no wisdom to guide them in foresight.—Yours, etc.. W. B BRAY. Leeston, July 1. 1961.
