TENNIS Four Nationalities In Wimbledon Semi-Final

(N .Z.PA.-Reuter— Copyngnt) LONDON, July 4. The Australian, R. Laver, and the Indian champion, R. Krishnan, yesterday entered the Wimbledon men’s singles semifinals for the second successive year. With a superb display of controlled power tennis, the 22-year-old Laver, runner-up for the title in 1959 and 1960, crushed the sixth-seeded Chilean champion, L. Ayala, by 6-1, 6-3, 6-2 in 57 minutes on the fast No. 1 court.

In the big centre court 1 arena, the 24-year-old Krishnan, seeded seventh, sprang a surprise by outmanoeuvring the Australian champion, R. Emerson, the No. 4 seed, by 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 in less than an hour. Emerson, with his big serve and volley, had been freely tipped as Laver’s likely opponent, but, with 1 delicate stroke play and uncanny anticipation. Krishnan won decisively. The other semi-final will be 1 between two 20-vear-olds, < the American C. R. McKinley, of St. Louis, who is seeded eighth, and the unseeded M. J. Sangster. who yesterday became the first British player to reach this stage for 23 years. With dynamic tennis. McKinley swept aside Britain's unseeded R. K.
