EQUIPMENT FROM U.S.

Use At Oil Well I ' I I (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 4. ! Special equipment bought 'in the United States was i used at Mangahewa No. 1 site today in a new operation to clear the well so that testing can be resumed. A "cementer" is firmly embedden in the well near the third interval which it was earlier proposed to test. Attached to the "cementer,’’ which is buried under a few hundred feet of cement, is approximately 1000 feet of drill pipe and tubing filled with cement.

In a statement today Shell-BP-A-Todd Oil Services. Ltdsaid than one of the more unusual "fishing” tools called an "outside cutter” had been flown from the United States to cut and remove the cement-filled drill pipe in sections. When this had been done it would be possible to determine which intervals to test next.

The statement says it is probable that the third inerval is blocked off by cement in which case the next test will be made on the fourth interval if it is clear or easily cleared.
