FLEECE OF THE YEAR
Christchurch Firm’s Win (N.Z. Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, July 4. The Massey College Wool Association Fleece of the Year Cup for 1961 was won today by Pyne, Gould, Guinness Ltd., Christchurch. The winning grower was Miss J. Wills, of Snowden Station, Canterbury, who will receive the I. A. M. Lange Grower’s Trophy. The judges were Messrs D Stewart (Christchurch) and R. F. Moore (Wellington). Other results were:— Merino section: Pyne. Gould. Guinness Ltd., Christchurch. Winning grower: Miss J. Wills 1. New Zealand Farmers' Co-op., Christchurch, 2 and 3. Grower: Estate J. Stevenson. Corriedale and halfbred: New Zealand Farmers’ Coop., Christchurch, 1 and 2; Wright, Stephenson, Ltd.. Dunedin, 3 (Bushey Park Estate). Romney and crossbred: New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Invercargill. 1 (M. Wensley); Sheep and Wool (N.Z.), Ltd., Palmerston North, 2 (Brown Bros. Ltd.); National Mortgage and Agency Co., Ltd. (Invercargill) 3 (E. J. Crowe). Romney and crossbred hogget: Wright, Stephenson, Ltd., Dunedin. 1 (Blakely Bros.); New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Invercargill, 2 (A. D. McGilvray); Wright, Stephenson. Ltd. (Dunedin) 3 (E. Nicholson).
