WRITER’S DEATH
No Inquest On Hemingway (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) KETCHUM (Idaho), July 4. Ernest Hemingway’s funeral is expected to be held tomorrow. The 61-year-old writer's family is waiting for his son Patrick to arrive from Africa. Hemingway died at his home here on Sunday from a shotgun wound in the head The Coroner. Mr Ray McGoldrick, who announced yesterday that there would not be an inquest into the author's death, said people could “make up their own minds” whether he shot himself accidentally or committed suicide. Sheriff Frank Hewitt gave additional details of Hemingway’s death tonight but they did not throw any new light on the question of whether the writer’s death was accidental. United Press International reported. Sheriff Hewitt said Hemingway fired both barrels of the 12-gauge shotgun into his head, “from the mouth upward." He said earlier only one barrel had been fired. He declined to explain the discrepancy, U.P.L said.
