COLOMBO PLAN’S HIGH PRINCIPLES
WELLINGTON, July 2. The Colombo Plan was motivated by the highest Christian principles, said the Rev. J. Kingsley Fairbairn at a special service to mark the 10th anniversary of the plan's implementation in Wellington today. Mr Fairbairn conducted the service at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, Two law students from Sarawak read the lessons. Not only were students in the New Zealand instance, being trained in this country to return to their own countries able to give of their knowledge and help but practical projects in the various under, developed countries were receiving the co-operation of the people themselves in raising living standards in realistic ways. Huge sums had been given by all countries contributing to the Colombo Plan. Receiving countries themselves had collected five times as much, however.
