STRIKES IN BRITAIN
“Syndicalists Involved” (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, July 2 The British Government, the Labour Party and trade union leaders have been warned about a new group of industrial agitators In Britain "in some ways more devout and militant than the Communists.” said the “Sunday Telegraph” today. The newspaper said political and industrial leaders had been told that the aim of the group, the syndicalists, was “nothing less than economic disruption.” Their ultimate aim was workers’ control and ownership of the factories.
The group was suspected of having helped to foment strikes in British industry in recent months.
The newspaper also reported that major changes in the leadership of the British Communist Party were likely as a result of last week's judicial finding in London that Communist leaders of the Electrical '"rades' Union conspired fraudulently to prevent the election of a Roman Catholic as general secretary.
