FENDALTON CORNER
T Danger In Road t Markings Seen ■ < Since traffic lights were in- j stalled at the corner of Fen- s dalton and Clyde roads, the ( approaches have been c marked in four lanes. Arrows in both the inner and f ou’er lanes on each side al- j low through traffic to go c across the intersection F abreast as well as turn. j The Automobile Associa- j tion (Canterbury) has de- t cided to write to the Wai- j mairi County Council suggesting that this causes haz- c aids. \ The association says that it appreciates the world-wide ( trend toward driving in lanes • in urban areas to carry more 1 raffle but that it has re- s ceived reports of several near-aocidents at this inter- c section. These situations arose from i traffic in a middle lane tnov- i 1 ing too quickly to the left ■ after crossing the intersec- I tion and crowding vehicles < moving up in the left lane. I The same movement was j necessary for buses pulling I
into a stop just over the intersection. The association has congratulated the Waimairi council on the improvement from the traffic lights but asked that the road marking be examined.
