THE SEMMERING RAILWAY.—This picture of a piece of the Semmering railway out of Vienna conveys something of the quality of the book, "Blue Skies, Brown Studies,” from which it is reproduced. The book comprises a number of travel essays by William Sansom, a writer whose prose is notable for its precision, harmony, and colour. The vicarious traveller could ask for no better guide through some of Europe’s most interesting and most beautiful places. "Blue Skies, Brown Studies” is published by the Hogarth Press.
