FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A deep, complex depression lies to ' the south-east of New Zealand, and a southwesterly airstream covers the country. Forecast:— Marlborough, except the Kaikoura coast.—Moderate westerlies decreasing, with moderate to fresh southerlies developing, fine at first but a few coastal showers later today; temperatures cool. Outlook: some showers. Nelson.—Light to moderate south to south-west winds predominating, a few showers but increasing fair periods, temperatures cool. Outlook: partly cloudy. West Coast.—Light to moderate variable winds, a few further showers at first but improving during the day. cool temperatures. Outlook: partly cloudy. The Kaikoura coast and Canterbury —Southwest winds, fresh to strong in some coastal places, occasional showers, especially in coastal areas, cold temperatures. Outlook: showers.
