Former City Woman
Formerly Miss Margot Kurschner, of Christchurch, Mrs John Murray, of Greenville, United States, has become’ a popular amateur actress in the South Carolina town.' Mrs Murray’s most recent success was a leading role in a sophisticated drawing-room play, “The Pleasure of His Company,” presented by the Greenville Little Theatre. She ■took the demanding part of
Kate Dougherty, the mother of a “panting" daughter, and was highly praised by a eritie in the "Grenville Piedmont.” She played opposite a professional actor. Mr Murray Matheson, formerly of Australia. "Mareot Murray is quite a Greenville . favourite here and has appeared in ‘Anne Frank.’ 'Fair Game’ and in the recent ‘Auntie Marne.’ which spotlighted her.” the crit’c said. Mrs Murray is married to Lieutenant John Murray, a navigator in the United States Air Force, Donaldson Base, Greenville. They have a son, David James, aged 13 months. She visited her parents. Mr and Mrs H. Kurschner. of 139 Salisbury street. Christchurch. in 1959 before going to Frankfurt. Germany, where her husband was stationed for six months and where their baby was born. Mr and Mrs Kurschner will visit them in Greenville in September.
Before her marriage, Mrs Murray appeared in several Christchurch productions of ‘he Theatre Arts Guild and in the Canterbury Repertory Society’s presentation of "Musical Chairs.”
