NEW ZEALAND TEAM
Four Canterbury Players
The New Zealand hockey team to tour Australia in July was announced by trie chairman of the New Zealand Hockey Association (Mr A. D. Holtland) on Saturday. The captain is J. Smith, of Wellington, and the vicecaptain is I. Kerr (Wellington'. The team will leave for Australia on July 7. and ptay its first match on July 8. Any members of the team required for the third test against India in Christchurch on July 8 will fly to Sydney on July 9 with the coach (Mr E. G. McLeod). Mr M. J. Cooper, of Auckland, is manager of the team. The team chosen by the New Zealand selector (Mr McLeod) is:— Goalkeeper.—G. McGregor (Wellington). Backs.—B. Whineray (Auckland), I. Kerr (Wellington), J. Abrams (Canterbury). Halves.—J. Smith (Wellington), R. Gillespie (Canterbury), E. Barnes (Canterbury), L. Henderson (Manewatu). Forwards.—G. McGreigor (Auckland), M. Mathieson (Wellington), T. Blake (Whangarei), B. Maunsell (Whangaxei), B. Judge (Canterbury), G. Byles (Whangerei), M. O’Connor (Wellington), C. Robertson (Manawatu). *
