TRUSTED SELECTED FOR WIN

Main Race At Nelson Today

(From Our Own Reporter)

NELSON, June 11. Trusted is selected to make amends for his failure yesterday when he contests the Winter Handicap, the main race and first leg of the double on the final day of the Nelson Trotting Club’s winter meeting at Richmond Park tomorrow.

Trusted’s defeat was not his own fault. He was pacing easily not far from the winner, Implore, at the straight entrance when his driver, D. J. Townley. was knocked from the sulky. Townley retained his hold on the reins and restrained Trusted without difficulty. The horse had no ill effects after the incident and if he races as well as he did in his other three starts he should be too good for most in this field. AM Red was twice second on the first day, both placings being full of merit. She has been penalised 12 yards for those efforts but that should not be enough to stop her making another bold showing. Snuffbox was slow away yesterday and later he pulled hard. He was beaten at the straight entrance but over

the shorter distance tomorrow he should be much harder to beat. He looks a fit horse.

Diemanite is an interesting newcomer. He won narrowly but well at his second appearance yesterday. He is a fine stayer and should be capable of a bold showing. Sand Drift, Worthy River. Loyal Brigade and Vanese (look to be the pick of the i remainder, although Admit jmight show up in spite of his | handicap of 36 yards. ! Gay Jillian, which had a [win and a good second to 'her credit yesterday, is en|titled to favouritism in the I second leg, the Bronte Handicap. i When beaten by Free Rejturn she was very slow [early. Usually she begins ‘smartly and if she does this ishe should appreciate the 12- ! furlong journey and gain her second win on the trip. ■ Free Return will not be ( set an easy task from 60 i yards, but he won so con-vi-ncmgly on the first day I that he should again be proIminent. He should be more [solid than most in the race. I Seriatim was disappointing yesterday, when strongly [supported in both of his ! races. He did not trot well i early but did better over 'two miles to finish »bird. If he trots kindly in this race he could easily win. Wairau

King, which shares the back mark with Thumberlina, is tiie class horse of the field. If the pace is not too strong he could easily gain a long overdue win. Invade, Bridget Scott, Real Kilt and Ideal appeal most of the remainder. The weather, forecast is favourable and the track should again be in splendid order.
