CARVED ALTAR FOR CHURCH
Gift From Man In Congregation A hand-carved gothicstyle altar has been made by a Lyttelton shipwright. Mr J. Fraser, for the new St Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church at the corner of Worcester and Montreal streets Mr Fraser is a member of the congregation and will make the altar a gift. He has already presented a carved lectern, which is used for services in the existing church ball. Work on the church began this week. The church proper wi’l hold about 200 persons. and there will also be several ancillary rooms. When the church is built, partitions in the present hall will be removed to increase its effective size, and a veranda at the rear will be blocked in to provide an extra cloakroom. The interior work in the church and the hall alter, tions will be done through voluntary labour by the congregation
