SOCCER Attitude Of N.Z. Side Important In 2nd Test
(Neu, Zealand Press Association)
AUCKLAND. June 9 Goals will not count when the touring English soccer team meets New Zealand in the second test at the Epsom Show Grounds tomorrow afternoon. A win for the Englishmen is obvious. What will count is the attitude of the New Zealand eleven to attack and defence, and for the sake of the 20.000-odd spectators who mry attend it must be hoped there is considerably more emphasis on attack than there was in the first test at Wellington. It is almost inconceivable that New Zealand could win The English professional game is too powerful to allow such a conclusion. But New Zealand could win the hearts of the crowd, their selectors and supporters, and even the Englishmen If. no matter what is scored against them, they could at least initiate a few constructive attacks The English party agree that the best football of the tour was in the first half against the Minor Associations at Napier, when the local side turned on several
fine attacking moves, which, with an ounce of luck, could have been goals. The Epsom Show Grounds field is in excellent condition and is quite firm in spite of four days of rain. The ground will hold about 25.000. and about "0.000 is expected by soccer officials The New Zealanders had a training run at the Auckland Domain this morning, but the Englishmen decided not to train Several of them made visits to Auckland schools and explained tac"cs to school soccer teams The match will begin at 230 pm The teams for the test are: England.—F Else. K. G. Hair. G L. Shaw, R. Moore. L Brown. C Appleton. T. Finney tcaptaim, J. Fantharn, R Charnley, G Hannah or H.- L. Lewis, and A. A'Court New Zealand.—P L. Whiting. J. Middleton. A W. Leong, J M Warrender (captain). J G Kemp, K Armstrong. G. F Eecles. J D. Wrathai or A M Inglis. R E. Reid. Inglis or D McVey. R. D. Ormond. Reserves: A. E. Cozens, D. H. Wallace.
