QUESTION: I halt been tend that in Britain where the TV Transmitting Stations are far stronger than in New Zealand the Receiving Sets are less powerful than those here, hence giving results which are comparable. Is this correct f "P. S." Christchurch. ANSWER: The systems used in both countries differ in many ways. New Zealand 7 V is based on the most modern C.C.I R. standards and is ahead of Britain in this respect. Seis manufactured here arc of a high standard and are turn'd to get the maximum from them. This is mainly due to the fact that we entered the field at a late stage and are able to incorporate all the modern technical advances in the system we use here. In Britain, as tn New Zealand. various brands of Receivers do vary in quality and power, hence you can appreciate that it would not be practical to make a comparison with any finality. QUESTION: When will Portable TV Sets be available in New Zealand. "Rotherham St." ANSWER: This is a question of policy from the manufacturers, coupled with availability of components, and the demand for these receivers. H’e have not been able to get any definite information but it is not proposed to market such a Set in the near future. The demand for the standard type of Console Sets is keeping well ahead of production and we would think that you will possibly not
