Sir.—On page 9 of today’s issue is a headline. “Chilean Barque.” and later a reference to the "naval barque Esmeralda.” Actually she is a barquentine. as she crosses yards on the foremast only. A barque crosses yards on fore and mainmasts (both rigs irrespective of the number of masts above three). If only two masts, the one with yards on the foremast is a brigantine, and on both a brig.— Yours, etc, MURARE. June 8. 1961.
