Three Knights In Birthday Honours

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 9. One knight commander and two knights bachelor are included in the Queen’s Birthday honours list announced by the Governor-General (Viscount Cobham). Mr J. L. Hay, of Christchurch, who is created a Knight Bachelor, is well known for his civic and welfare work. He is the first Christchurch man to be knighted, except for Supreme Court judges, since the late Sir John McKenzie. Services to local government, agriculture and welfare work are recognised in the honours conferred by Her Majesty. The list is as follows: —
