DELAY AT WELL
Broken Drill String IN.Z Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH. June 8. A broken section of the drilling string at the Mangahewa No. 1 oil well at Tikorangi has delayed the testing of the second testing level by several days The drilling string twisted off in the vicinity of 11,000 feet Trouble began when a sealing plug lammed in the hole and had to be drilled out It was while this was being done that the string broke. The general manager of Shell-B P -Todd Oil Services Ltd (Mr D. S Watt), said today that it could now be Saturday or Sunday. In pouring rain and a cold southerly, the Minister of Mines (Mr Shand) wearing a protective helmet, inspected the Maegahewa No. 1 oil well at Tikorangi today. The site was surrounded in an inchesdeep sea of mud.
