TELEPHONE AT HOTEL
Mr Kinsella’s Comment (NZ Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 8. The Postoaster-General (Mr Kinsella) tonight commented on criticism of his action in cutting off the telephone at a Christchurch hotel where a barman bad been convicted of bookmaking. Mr Kinsella said that the regulations provided that if a telephone was found to have been used for some improper, illegal or immoral purpose that the service could be cut off. “There have been. quite a few telephones cut off over the years from both private and business subscribers, including those installed in hotels.” said Mr Kinsella. “If the subscriber makes an application the matter will be reconsidered." said the Postmaster -Getters!. “It could be reconsidered at any time But an employer must always be responsible for the actions of his employees," said Mr Kinsella.
